Happy Monday All
I hope everyone had a great Easter Weekend!
Lots happening in the world of the legalization of medicinal marijuana. I'll start here at home, by now everyone has probably heard, of the Alaskan high school teenager that held up a banner saying "Bong hits for Jesus" A few weeks ago.
It was in my state capitol!
It caused uproar and ended up in the Supreme courts. No one had to address a situation like this before. Turns out, it wasn't a big deal, legally. Even though people were in disagreement of what the banner said, the young man was just asserting his 5th Amendment Rights. He got nothing but a slap on the wrist and a small fine
for doing it during a Special Olympics parade for maximum exposure.
Thank goodness that Amendment is still fully in tact!!
Congratulations New Mexico for becoming the 12th State to legalize marijuana for medical use, effective March 14th, passed vote 7 to 2, in favor of legalizing medicinal marijuana.
Gov. Richards, You Rock!
In the olden days a human would do anything to save another human life.
When did other people who make laws and Judges start deciding whether you are allowed to live or die?
For instance a California mother had to sue
the U.S Government for not allowing her medicine, "marijuana" to be given to her even though she has a doctors prescription from her own state for it.
Raids happen in California daily from medicinal marijuana depots and individual citizens just using it as medicine also.
The U.S Federal Government needs to get there priorities straight and go after the Pharmaceutical
Companies providing the Ecstasy and and other legally prescribed drugs.
Providing legal addiction to America with the help of our own Government.
This is something you might already know, but I didn't until reading about it recently.
Pharmaceutical are paying desperate people or random college students desperate for money to be guinea pigs for their new drugs because the faster it can be proven that it works on a human not just a rat, the sooner they can market it and make more money.
Not all the testing was perfect. One young man in particular developed a bad allergic reaction and had a burning rash for weeks. He just wrote it off because to pay his rent he had no other choice. Well that's all I’ll say about the pharmaceutical companies
TODAY ANYWAY!!
From the DEA website on 3-31-07 :
The DEA contends that marijuana is a dangerous and addictive drug that poses significant health threats to users including cancer and impaired mental functions.
It’s a plant not a dangerous addictive drug!
Excerpt from the book "The Benefits of Marijuana" This is a distortion of what scientists’ studies show that the studies on animals indicate that marijuana actually may protect against many forms of cancer rather than cause it. In addition studies of marijuana smokers have found little evidence of cognitive deficits and even if they do the effects totally disappear after 30 days of not smoking marijuana.
We wish we could take away cancer, if everyone stopped smoking cigarettes for 30 days, the same benefits do not occur.
